Overview:

A/B Testing is an invaluable feature in SMSWiser that allows you to test multiple variations of your SMS campaigns. By experimenting with different sender names and SMS texts within a single sendout, you can determine which versions perform best, ensuring your messages are as effective and engaging as possible.

Business Need:

In SMS marketing, the ability to fine-tune your message and sender information can significantly impact engagement rates and campaign success. A/B Testing provides the data-driven insights needed to optimise these elements, allowing businesses to make informed decisions and invest in strategies that yield the best results.

How It Works:

  • Multiple Instances: SMSWiser enables you to send and test multiple instances of the sender name field and the SMS text field within one sendout. This flexibility allows you to create more customised and tailored messages for your recipients.
  • Performance Tracking: Each instance is tracked separately, allowing you to monitor the performance of different sender names and SMS texts. This detailed tracking helps identify which variations resonate best with your audience.
  • Data-Driven Decisions: By analysing the performance data, you can make logical assumptions for future sendouts, refining your strategies to maximise engagement and ROI.

Steps to Implement A/B Testing:

1. Create a New Drop:

  • Navigate to the Drops section in your SMSWiser account.
  • Click on the + Add Drop button.

2. Configure A/B Testing:

  • Sender Name: Toggle the A/B test option on for the sender name field. Enter multiple variations of the sender name you wish to test.
  • SMS Text: Toggle the A/B test option on for the SMS text field. Compose multiple variations of the SMS text you want to test. Every new instance of SMS text can include the available placeholders.

This setup allows different segments of your recipient list to receive different versions of the sender name and SMS text.

3. Define Other Drop Details:

  • Complete the remaining fields such as Name, Country, Campaign, SMS Gateway Route, Leads List, Amount, Price per SMS, Shortlink Extension, and Send Time.

4. Launch the Drop:

  • Review your A/B testing configurations and other drop details.
  • Click Submit to launch the drop. SMSWiser will randomly distribute the different versions of sender names and SMS texts among your recipients.

Monitoring and Optimisation:

  • Performance Tracking: Once the drop is sent, SMSWiser tracks the performance of each sender name and SMS text variation separately. You can view detailed statistics for each version under the Drop -> View option.
  • Analyse Results: Examine key metrics such as sent amount, click-through rates, and conversions for each variation to determine which performed best.
  • Make Informed Decisions: Use the insights gained from A/B testing to refine your future campaigns. Focus on the sender names and SMS texts that yielded the highest engagement and conversion rates.

Example Scenario:

Suppose you are unsure whether a more formal sender name or a casual one will resonate better with your audience. You set up an A/B test with two variations of the sender name: “CompanyName” and “YourFriend.” Additionally, you test two SMS text variations: one with a direct call-to-action and another with a more informative approach. After sending the drop, you monitor the performance of each variation. The data reveals that “YourFriend” as the sender name and the direct call-to-action SMS text have higher engagement rates. You can now use these insights to optimise future campaigns, ensuring you invest in settings that work.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced Customisation: Test and refine multiple instances of sender names and SMS texts to create more personalised and effective messages.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Track the performance of each variation to understand what resonates best with your audience.
  • Informed Investment: Allocate resources to the most effective campaign settings, maximising ROI.
  • Continuous Improvement: Use A/B testing results to continuously improve your SMS marketing strategies.

By leveraging A/B Testing in SMSWiser, you can ensure that your campaigns are optimised for success, delivering personalised and engaging messages that drive better results.
