How do I manage my Source IDs?

Overview:

Source IDs are essential in SMS marketing for tracking and managing leads. Each lead you upload into SMSWiser must have a Source ID, which helps in identifying the origin of the lead and facilitates accurate reporting. This is particularly important in SMS marketing where data users might pay a percentage of profit to data providers based on the performance of the leads.

Business Need:

The use of Source IDs is critical for effective lead management and reporting. In SMS marketing, it’s common for data users to compensate data providers based on the success of the campaigns involving their leads. By assigning a unique Source ID to each lead, businesses can track the performance of leads from different sources accurately and ensure fair profit sharing with data providers. Additionally, Source IDs help in segmenting and targeting leads more effectively, enhancing the overall efficiency of marketing campaigns.

Setup:

1. Access the Source IDs Section:

  • Log in to your SMSWiser account.
  • Navigate to the Settings section and select Sources.

2. Create a New Source ID:

  • Click on the + Create Source button.
  • Fill in the required details such as Source Name and SourceID. The Source Name should be descriptive enough to identify the lead source easily.
  • Select the country associated with the source.
  • When creating a Source, a token will be generated automatically by the system.
  • Click Submit to create the Source ID.

3. Using the Generated Token:

  • The generated token can be used for live API POSTing of leads to SMSWiser.
  • When posting leads via the API, the SourceID and the token are among the required fields, ensuring secure and accurate data submission.

4. Assign Source IDs to Leads:

  • Every lead you import must be assigned a Source ID. This can be done during the lead import process.
  • Navigate to the Leads section and click on Import data.
  • Choose between API or CSV upload and follow the instructions to upload your contacts.
  • Ensure each lead has a Source ID assigned in the import file or during the import process.

5. Understanding Lead Uniqueness and Duplicates:

  • In SMSWiser, phone numbers are not unique, meaning multiple leads can share the same phone number.
  • The first instance of a lead with a unique phone number is considered the “Unique” lead.
  • Subsequent leads with the same phone number are considered “Duplicates.”
  • Every lead, whether Unique or Duplicate, must have a Source ID assigned to it.

Example Scenario:

Consider you are running multiple marketing campaigns using leads from different providers. By assigning a unique Source ID to each lead based on its provider, you can track the performance of each provider’s leads separately. For instance, Source ID 001 might represent leads from Provider A, while Source ID 002 represents leads from Provider B. This setup allows you to generate detailed reports showing how leads from each source are performing, helping you make informed decisions about future marketing investments and profit-sharing agreements.

Benefits:

  • Accurate Reporting: Track the performance of leads from different sources accurately, ensuring fair profit sharing with data providers.
  • Effective Lead Management: Segment and target leads more effectively by using Source IDs to organise your contacts.
  • Simplified Data Tracking: Easily identify the origin of each lead, simplifying data management and analysis.
  • Secure Data Submission: Use the generated token for secure API POSTing of leads, ensuring data integrity and security.

By effectively managing Source IDs, you can enhance the accuracy of your reporting, ensure fair compensation for data providers, and optimise your SMS marketing campaigns for better results.
